I can never go back to full-time Personal Training after this email đ
I was a PT for 6 years doing 30+ hours of face-to-face coaching a week. I've seen the best and the worst side of the industry. My summary is this: Personal training is for people who want help with the training side of things because alone you won't push yourself or make time for training alone. (mostly because of their lack of confidence and routine. Face-to-face coaching should be a luxury for people who already understand and are progressing with their habits, nutrition, and lifestyle. Then, having a meeting with an expert is the 1% cherry on top that isn't essential for results. If you are a beginner you will be better off with an online coach. Someone who will take you through the steps beginners need to take Nutrition, routine, sleep, joining the right gym etc. An online coach has no agender to join their gym or to do more expensive 1 to 1 sessions. Instead of hiring a PT because you are lacking confidence and knowledge Hire a coach (me đ) I've almost done equal time face to-face (6 years) to online (5 Years) All of my best & longest-lasting results with clients have been online. |

I did a 25km trail race in the Lakes a couple of weeks ago. Rated 5 out of 5 for difficulty. I'd only run about 60km the entire year before it. I sounds nuts but I did it for two reasons. The first is I want my kids to grow up thinking this stuff is normal. Training, pushing yourself, eating well, not drinking every weekend. Most people weren't brought up that way and for a lot of people exercise is just weird. I don't want that for my kids. I want them to see their dad doing hard things and...
Laura (my girlfriend) went vegan for a whole year once. She didn't watch a documentary or have some big moment about animals. (although she loves them) She just spent loads of time around one of my best mates who is vegan and it slowly rubbed off on her. She's not vegan anymore by the way. But it shows how much the people around you shape what you do without you noticing. If you're around caring people you end up more caring, and if you're around fit people you suddenly want to have a go...
I've not sent an email for a few weeks and I've done a 'classic'.. The longer I left it the more I got in my own head. I kept thinking 'what do I even send for the first one back', then 'it's been too long', then 'the first one back had to be a really good one'. The more I thought about it the less I did. It's not that I didn't want to send them. I love writing these. I just overthought it, got distracted and spent the time on something else instead. And it's exactly what most people do with...
