Last night I was struggling to bath my 2-year-old son. I’m a healthy weight, fit, strong, and after all these years I consider movement relatively easy. And still, I felt battered by the heat doing basic tasks. Life feels at least 30% harder in this weather. It got me thinking… imagine if I was obese trying to do this. So I researched the statistics in the UK:
So me struggling as someone who’s healthy is nothing compared to people carrying extra weight. No wonder this week I’ve had unusually more enquiries about my coaching than usual. The truth is, if you’re even 10% overweight, your quality of life starts to drop. Everyday tasks are harder, your body aches more, sleep gets worse, and statistically your confidence and mental health decline. It means you showing up as your best self is reduced. Your kids see it, your partner sees it, and what life could look like gets dampened by lower energy and less get up and go. If you’re reading this and it feels a bit too familiar, you don’t have to keep trying to lose weight alone. I work with people who feel exactly like this on day 1, and together we turn it around If you want some support to feel lighter, fitter, and more like yourself again, just reply to this email with the word INFO. I’ll get back to you personally. Jake |

I did a 25km trail race in the Lakes a couple of weeks ago. Rated 5 out of 5 for difficulty. I'd only run about 60km the entire year before it. I sounds nuts but I did it for two reasons. The first is I want my kids to grow up thinking this stuff is normal. Training, pushing yourself, eating well, not drinking every weekend. Most people weren't brought up that way and for a lot of people exercise is just weird. I don't want that for my kids. I want them to see their dad doing hard things and...
Laura (my girlfriend) went vegan for a whole year once. She didn't watch a documentary or have some big moment about animals. (although she loves them) She just spent loads of time around one of my best mates who is vegan and it slowly rubbed off on her. She's not vegan anymore by the way. But it shows how much the people around you shape what you do without you noticing. If you're around caring people you end up more caring, and if you're around fit people you suddenly want to have a go...
I've not sent an email for a few weeks and I've done a 'classic'.. The longer I left it the more I got in my own head. I kept thinking 'what do I even send for the first one back', then 'it's been too long', then 'the first one back had to be a really good one'. The more I thought about it the less I did. It's not that I didn't want to send them. I love writing these. I just overthought it, got distracted and spent the time on something else instead. And it's exactly what most people do with...
